Health officials were today investigating a second suspected case of Legionnaires’ disease in three months at Dolphin Square.
Public Health England opened the investigation after residents at the Pimlico apartment block were told a guest of a tenant in Nelson House had been diagnosed with a “respiratory illness caused by legionella bacteria”.
It follows an investigation three months ago when a resident needed hospital treatment after contracting the disease.
In an email to residents last week, Dolphin Square Ltd said the latest case was “under investigation” and “as yet has not been linked to the flat in Nelson House”.
It said: “The council has sampled water from the outlets with the flat and we await the results.”
A researcher, 42, who lives in Nelson House said: “People have died from this disease, an email simply isn’t enough, especially as this is the second time in just a few months.”
PHE today said there had been 110 confirmed cases nationwide since the start of the year, with 22 in London.
A Westminster council spokesman said: “We are awaiting test results to determine potential sources. At this stage no source has been identified.”
