Probe as teen found 'unresponsive' on street in Bangor, Co Down dies

Police have launched an investigation into the death of a teenager on Saturday night.

Emergency services rallied following reports that the 17-year-old was "unresponsive" on Market Street in Bangor, Co Down.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 17-year-old male in the Market Street area of Bangor at around 11pm on Saturday night.

"At this time the death is not being treated as suspicious however a post mortem examination will be carried out in due course."

Belfast Live reports that eyewitnesses said the street was cordoned off by police and that forensic officers were at the scene.

John McPoland from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said: "We got the call last night at 10.20pm that a young male was unresponsive in the Market Street Area."

He added that the young man was taken to Dundonald's Ulster Hospital.
