Probation for shoplifters who hit sex shop in Lakeview

April 28--Three people charged with shoplifting from Taboo Tabou in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood have been sentenced to probation and community service.

Aaliyah Foster, 20, was sentenced on Wednesday to two years of probation after being found guilty of shoplifting. The two others -- Deavin Oliver, 21, and Ratero Walker, 19 -- each were sentenced last month to two years of probation, community service and fines between $444 and $469.

They were arrested after two of the store's workers chased after them and pointed them out to police officers at a nearby CTA station Jan. 31.

The incident unfolded shortly after 7 p.m. when three women and a man entered the shop in the 800 block of West Belmont Avenue and began browsing the shelves in the lower level, according to surveillance video.

One of the women kept a worker busy, taking her to the side asking questions, while the other three rifled through shelves and stuffed items into plastic bags and a backpack, the video shows.

The four brushed past one of the workers as they left the store, and the employee alerted the other worker, who called 911, police said. No one was injured.

Foster, of the 1800 block of South Sawyer Avenue, had been wanted on an outstanding warrant related to misdemeanor battery from July, prosecutors said.

Walker, of the 14400 block of Dorchester Street in Dolton, was on juvenile probation for residential burglary and had a pending battery charge from December, according to prosecutors.
