Pro-Palestine protesters stage demonstration during evening rush hour at Waterloo station

Pro-Palestine protesters staged a demonstration at London Waterloo station during evening rush hour on Thursday.

Around a dozen demonstrators were seen chanting "Free, free Palestine" and "Resistance is justified" inside the station.

A Palestinian flag was draped over the upper level near WH Smith, while one protester addressed the crowd through a megaphone as commuters made their way to their trains.

Protesters stood over a large banner displaying portraits which appear to be of members of the ‘Filton 25’, with a caption which read: “They are not terrorists”.

The ‘Filton 25’ are a group of pro-Palestine activists who were arrested following a break-in at an Elbit Systems facility in Filton, near Bristol, in August 2024.

The site was a research, development and manufacturing hub for Elbit, an Israeli arms company.

An estimated £1m worth of damage was caused during the raid.

In May, Charlotte Head, 30, Samuel Corner, 23, Leona Kamio, 30, and Fatema Rajwani, 21, were found guilty of criminal damage.

Corner was also found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm after striking Sgt Kate Evans twice with a sledgehammer, fracturing her spine.

He was cleared of the more serious offence of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Head, Corner, Kamio and Rajwani will be sentenced on Friday.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Yesterday (11 June) there was a peaceful protest at Waterloo railway station. Between 20 to 30 people gathered from around 5.30pm until 6pm and did not affect the operation of the station.

“British Transport Police were in attendance to minimise disruption to passengers. There were no arrests.”
