PRO-Palestine activists in Glasgow have gathered for a "festival of resistance".

The festival, organised by the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign (SPSC), is taking place on Sunday in Kelvingrove Park until 6pm.

It features "defiant voices" from Palestine, Lebanon, Iran and Yemen, with the line-up including a range of debates, music and poetry, while food is also available to purchase.

The event also features an exhibition of a car which honours six-year-old Hind Rajab, a Palestinian girl who was killed alongside her family by Israeli forces who surrounded their vehicle as they tried to flee Gaza City in 2024.

Hind and her cousin Layan were the only survivors of the initial attack, and attempted to call emergency services for help while trapped in the vehicle.

Layan was killed while they spoke, leaving Hind alone. Two dispatchers from the Palestine Red Crescent Society who attempted to come to her rescue were also killed as they approached the attack site.

The car on display is a model of the one Hind was killed in, and features 335 numbered holes to reflect each bullet that Israeli forces fired upon the vehicle.

Organisers said the event is being held "in solidarity with the Palestinian people’s struggle for liberation and self-determination, and calling to end the Zionist settler colonial project of occupation, apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide".

The SPSC added in a statement: "By coming together we defend our rights to assemble, protest, and advocate for Palestinian rights. A free Palestine will free us all."

Another "festival of resistance" will take place in Edinburgh on Sunday, August 16, from 12pm until 6pm on the Meadows.
