Pro golfer gets disqualified from event after running out of golf balls during his round

Golf is hard, which is something you know if you’ve ever attempted to play the wonderful game.

And if you have, chances are you’ve hit some wayward shots that had you quickly digging a new ball out of your bag.

It happens to the best of us. And it happens to some professionals, too. Just ask Clement Berardo who was playing in a Challenge Tour event in Spain on Thursday when things apparently went terribly wrong with his game.

Because he ran out of balls on the 15th hole and if you don’t have any balls left you get DQ’d from the event.

Golf Channel has the sad details on his disastrous round:

It’d been a rough round for the 32-year-old Frenchman, who was 10 over par at the time of his disqualification. He began the day with a quadruple-bogey 9 on the first hole, then bogeyed the sixth and eight holes to make the turn in 6-over 41. It got worse from there, after he double-bogeyed the 10th hole and dropped shots on the 14th and 15th. On the par-5 16th, Berardo apparently lost the final ball in his bag and embarrassingly had to head back to the clubhouse.

Ranked 1,909th in the world, Berardo had missed his last four cuts on the European Tour’s developmental circuit.

Poor guy couldn’t even buy a few sleeves of balls in the clubhouse?

What a rough day on the job.
