We knew it was coming, and now it is official. There’s still more hardware likely to come, but on Tuesday, former Ohio State and current Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was named the PFWA Rookie of the Year.
If you paid attention, you no doubt know that the award was rightfully earned. Stroud put together one of the best rookie seasons any NFL quarterback has ever enjoyed. He helped lead a Texans team that won just two games in the 2022-2023 season make it to the second round of the playoffs by throwing for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns against just five interceptions.
He broke a couple of NFL quarterback rookie records by tossing 191 passes to start a career without an interception and throwing the most passing yards in a single game by a rookie (470). He also led the league in touchdown to interception ratio (23:5), tied for the most touchdowns by a rookie in a game (5), and playoff game(3), and more.
