Hours after U.S. women’s national team star Carli Lloyd made a 55-yard field goal following an NFL practice, one of the NFL’s newest Hall of Famers had a suggestion for her next job.
“Honestly, I don’t think it will be long before we see a woman break through this NFL barrier,” former Cowboys executive Gil Brandt, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this month, tweeted on Tuesday. “I’d give her an honest tryout if I were, say, the Bears.”

That’s highly unlikely. The Bears need a kicker, though — they’ve whittled their derby, which once ran as deep as nine players, down to Eddy Pineiro. But not even Pineiro thinks that the team waiving Elliott Fry on Sunday means he’s won the job.
Fresh off a World Cup championship, Lloyd attended the joint practice between the Eagles and Ravens on Tuesday. She walked out onto the field afterward and tried kicking field goals, making tries as long as 55 yards.
