Pro Football Focus thinks Seahawks QB Russell Wilson is underrated

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was named by Pro Football Focus as the most underrated quarterback in the NFL.

Speaking on the PFF NFL Podcast, Sam Monson and Mike Renner discussed Wilson’s elite numbers, including his 89.2 overall grade (sixth among quarterbacks) and his 1,248 deep yards thrown last season – which ranked second.

Wilson also posted a 9.3% big throw rate and had a 91.4 passer rating under pressure, both tops in the league.

Perhaps Pro Football Focus feels that Wilson is underrated according to their own top-100 list, which had Wilson ranked as the 42nd best player in the NFL.

Regardless, Wilson’s 35/7 touchdown-to-interception ratio last season was the best mark of his career, and he proved he was one of the most elite quarterbacks in the league, even in a year where the team prioritized establishing a punishing run game over allowing Wilson to shine through the air.

The loss of Doug Baldwin will create a new set of challenges for Wilson this season, but an exciting class of rookie receivers, the return of Will Dissly and the emergence of Tyler Lockett should once again allow Wilson to post elite numbers – numbers that will place him among the elite quarterbacks in the NFL.
