Pro Football Focus says Texans’ Deshaun Watson is tied with Tom Brady for 2nd-highest graded QB

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has been a problem in 2020.

That is, for opposing defensive coordinators when they have to face the hard-luck AFC South team.

Though the Texans have slipped to 4-11 on the season and may match their worst record since 2017, when they drafted Watson in the first round, analytics yet again prove that the three-time Pro Bowler has been the lone successful element on the team.

Pro Football Focus released their highest-rated quarterbacks through 16 weeks of the regular season, and Watson was tied with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady for the second-highest grade among signal callers at 91.9.

In numbers the general public can understand, and not the alchemy of a PFF grade, Watson has generated 4,458 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, six interceptions, and a 112.1 passer rating. The former Clemson Tiger has had a 70.1 completion percentage and taken 45 sacks, one more than a year ago, while leading the league in yards per attempt (8.8) and yards per completion (12.6).

Watson is the one element of the Texans that the new general manager won’t have to upgrade and the new coach won’t have to worry about when working with the roster.
