Pro Football Focus releases player scores from Dolphins’ win over Atlanta

The folks at Pro Football Focus do an impressive job of turning around games and quickly providing player scores for all of the NFL contests each week. Within 18 hours of the end of the Dolphins’ 34-27 victory over the Falcons, the company had unveiled who Miami’s top performers were on each side of the ball.

There were a few expected names — and a few surprises littered inside as well.

Offense

It shouldn’t come to the surprise of anyone who watched the game that Preston Williams was the top scoring athlete on offense. And Josh Rosen played well after a shaky start, too — consistently moving the Dolphins offense up and down the field. But how about OG Chris Reed?

Reed needed some strong play after stumbling through padded practices — could this serve as the boost he needs to turn the corner and climb back into contention for a starting job?

And of course Miami’s deep tight end room got in on the action. The questions for Miami will be how many of this group can they justify keeping? Both Myarick and Walford are probably still on the outside looking in.

Defense

Defensively, seeing Jerome Baker and UDFA rookie Dewayne Hendrix is no shock — both made some splash plays. The two big winners according to PFF are Jonathan Ledbetter and Torry McTyer. The Dolphins desperately need someone to step up as another defensive back — McTyer can make waves with continued strong play.

And Ledbetter is in a congested group of defensive linemen, but playing time is ripe for the picking. Such a strong opening performance will probably do him wonders as he looks to solidify his standing with the team.
