Pro Football Focus ranks Redskins pass rush as 18th best in NFL

When you take a look at the Washington Redskins roster, there’s no position group that really stands out among the best in the leauge.

The running backs have arguably the most depth on the team, and the defensive secondary can hold their own despite age creeping into the picture, However, Pro Football Focus is keyed in on the defensive line, and the pass rush that they bring.

Ahead of the 2019 season, PFF ranked the Washington pass rush as 18th best in the league, headed up by veteran Ryan Kerrigan and infused with rookie Montez Sweat. The former was recently ranked inside of the top 100 players in the NFL, and the latter has already turned heads this offseason with a mix of speed and size that is a rare find late in the first round of the NFL Draft.

The loss of Preston Smith in free agency is no doubt a bummer, but if either Daron Payne or Jonathan Allen are able to take that next step into stardom, then the Redskins should be able to find plenty of success going forward, on the defensive line, at the very least.
