Pro Football Focus has Case Keenum as their lowest-rated QB in the NFL

For the first two weeks of the season, it was starting to look like the Washington Redskins had finally gotten lucky. Case Keenum — who they had acquired from the Denver Broncos in the offseason — was looking to embody the NFC championship-caliber quarterback that took the league by storm with the Minnesota Vikings, rather than the middling and mistake-prone fill-in who was bounced from the St. Louis Rams, and later the Broncos.

Then Week 3 happened, and Keenum put on his worst performance of the season, and quite possibly the worst of his career. Though he finished with over 330 yards and two touchdowns, the eight-year veteran threw three interceptions and fumbled twice. The Redskins fell to 0-3 and calls for Keenum to be benched in place of the rookie Dwayne Haskins rang on high.

Taking this putrid performance into account, Pro Football Focus dropped Keenum in their QB ranking, slotting him in a No. 26 in the league — the lowest of any signal-caller who has started more than one game this season.

Keenum’s stats were fool’s gold through two weeks, as he had a top-notch passer rating despite three turnover-worthy plays and no interceptions to show for them. Things evened off a bit on Monday Night Football, and he now leads the league with nine turnover-worthy plays after a three-interception outing and multiple disastrous fumbles.

All that said, Keenum’s adjusted completion percentage of 62.1% on 10-plus-yard throws ranks 11th in the league, but the poor decision-making and ball security have been among the league’s worst through three weeks.

On Tuesday, head coach Jay Gruden stated to the media that he has no plans of making a change at the QB spot. However, Keenum did not practice on Wednesday and was seen at the team facility in a walking boot. Though he is expected to play on Sunday, it would be hard to do much worse than we saw last week.
