Pro Football Focus grades for Panthers’ 2019 NFL draft class

The Carolina Panthers had a strong 2019 draft class according to most analysts. They addressed their needs on the edge and at left tackle and added a very promising backup quarterback. At least in theory. How these players will work out at the next level is anybody’s guess. For every slam dunk draft pick like Julius Peppers, there’s at least one total failure like Jimmy Clausen.

For what it’s worth, Pro Football Focus gave good grades for several of Carolina’s picks last season. Here’s their 2018 grades, beginning with EDGE Brian Burns.

Keep in mind this was a totally different level of competition, so expect some dropoff as these rookies adjust to life in the NFL.

That being said, we have high expectations for Burns, Grier and Miller. If that holds and one of their late-round picks hits, then this could turn out to be one of the better draft classes the Panthers have had.
