Pro Football Focus grades 2 Texans as playing elite versus the Jaguars

Pro Football Focus is at it again, and this time, they claim two Houston Texans defenders played at an elite level in the club’s 13-12 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday.

According to the football scouting and analytics outlet, nose tackle D.J. Reader and rookie defensive end Charles Omenihu graded out at 91.0 and 90.2 respectively.

Reader produced five combined tackles and a tackle for loss as the Texans defense limited the Jaguars to just 103 rushing yards and five rushing first downs.

Omenihu notched his first career sack, along with a forced fumble, and tallied two combined sacks on the afternoon. The fifth-round pick from Texas demonstrated why he was considered a steal according to draft analysts after the 2019 NFL draft.

The Texans will need, not only sustained elite production from Reader and Omenihu, but also a couple other defenders to play at an elite level as Houston travels to Los Angeles to face the Chargers and reach 2-1 for the first time since 2016.
