Pro Football Focus gives 3 Texans to watch versus the Cowboys

The Houston Texans will be in Arlington to face the Dallas Cowboys in the third preseason game on Saturday at AT&T Stadium. Considered to be a “dress rehearsal” game where starters play increased snaps, the game is thepreseason bout for each time playing.

Pro Football Focus is back at it with a few players to watch in the game. Those listed for the Texans include rookie offensive lineman Tytus Howard and Max Scharping and undrafted rookie free agent defensive lineman Albert Huggins.

Howard has earned a lowly 49.7 overall grade through the preseason, but one may assume it’d be higher if he were playing just left guard. Scharping, on the other hand, has earned a far higher 65.3.

As their analysis team says, “both Howard and Scharping will need to put forth improved play if they’re going to carve out significant roles with this team.”

As for Huggins, PFF is more than impressed with his play. His 87.7 pass-rush grade through two weeks of play is high, and so are his four total pressures in 34 pass-rush snaps.

Considering that Houston allowed 62 sacks in 2018, a call for better play from Howard and Scharping is anything but bold. Huggins’ outstanding preseason just makes for good football to watch.
