The New England Patriots will head into the 2019 season with a fourth consecutive Super Bowl trip in mind.
They lost some of their key players last season, but they’ve revamped their roster and could be even more dangerous than they were in 2018. Three players on the current roster were featured in Pro Football Focus’ 50 best players in the NFL heading into 2019.
Shaq Mason was the first one to make the list, after being named the No. 50 player. After four years in the NFL, he is slowly making a name for himself as one of the best offensive guards. He’s earned a 75.0 or higher run-blocking grade every season, and has been a huge key the Patriots’ running success.
The second player to make the list was Stephon Gilmore, who finished as the No. 14 best player. There is no surprise here, after he put together the most impressive season of his career. He was an absolute lockdown corner, who was named first-team All-Pro, and a Pro Bowler.
With little surprise, Tom Brady was the highest ranked player on the list — with the No. 2 slot. He was 41 years old in 2018 and was able to finish with an elite ranking of 90.6. He was one of the most clutch players in the NFL, and was able to prove that in the Super Bowl.
The No. 1 ranked player on the list was Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald.
