Pro FIFA 23 player Shellzz reveals the best tactics and formations to improve your game

Professional FIFA 23 player Shellzz has revealed the best tips, tactics and formations to use in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team.

Shellzz, a Pro FIFA 23 player for Manchester City, will be looking for redemption in the 2022/23 ePremier League competition after failing to qualify for last year's Finals. The 23-year-old was knocked out in the Club Playoffs, meaning he couldn't defend his title after winning the competition in the 2020/21 season.

The 2022/23 ePremier League is open for anyone to register, with players needing to advance through five qualifier rounds before making the Finals, where there is a £100,000 prize pool up for grabs. And, as Shellzz prepares to challenge for the title once again, he provided Mirror Gaming with some tips on how to reach the top of your game in FIFA 23.

FIFA 23 has been out for nearly a month, and for the first time in years, it feels like a whole new game. The gameplay has been revamped, with pace no longer the most important stat, making more players more usable than ever before.

Brand-new for FIFA 23, EA Sports introduced new AcceleRATE types into the game, with players given one of three AcceleRATE types - explosive, controlled and lengthy. The latter has proven to be overpowered in FIFA 23, with the likes of Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and others given this AcceleRATE type.

Shellzz advises using lengthy players and one other tip to make you a better player in FIFA 23: "The two things I could say is learn how to do trivela shots - if you're a new player but you know how to trivela, I'm sure you'll score a lot of goals," Shellzz told Mirror Gaming.

"I'll also say use lengthy strikers. I think if you're struggling to attack, trigger your strikers to run by using L1 on PlayStation or LB on Xbox. Play the ball over the top to them, and I'm sure your score goals from that.

"I think if you can master those two, it'll help you win a couple of games."

Trivela shots - which is just a shot with the outside of the boot- have proven to be a very efficient way of scoring in FIFA 23, especially from long range. Trivela shots are simple to pull off in game - just hold L2 on PlayStation or LT on Xbox and shoot.

With the new gameplay, some tactics and formations that worked well in FIFA 22 are not as useful now. But, Shellzz has been using a mixture of old and new tactics to help him in FIFA 23.

"I'm using direct passing, It was a big thing last year as it pushes your team forward and gets them pushing your opposition's defensive line a bit back and getting them in the box, which is quite good," claimed Shellzz.

"I'm also using 4-2-3-1, which is a formation that hasn't really been used as much, but the way how I play [on FIFA 23] is a lot different to other years.

"This year I've gone down the wings a lot. I usually like to attack quite centrally, but this year I'm using the wings a lot, trying to work down the line, use the space, and then look for the trivela shots, so it's a mixture of both."

Anyone can register to represent their favourite club in the ePremier League, with a £100,000 prize pool up for grabs. To register for the 2022/23 ePremier League competition, visit the ePremier League official website to sign up.

FIFA 23 is developed by EA Vancouver and EA Romania and is now available worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia, PS4, and Xbox One.
