A woman fishing with 10 mates has caught a tagged barramundi in the Northern Territory's Daly River, winning $10,000 in the process.
Kaitlyn Ahfat hooked the 65cm winning fish on Thursday, the sixth caught this season offering the $10,000 prize.
But seven fish worth $1 million each remain at large as part of the annual fishing competition in the Top End.
Ms Ahfat said when she saw the red tag on the fish everyone was jumping up and down.
"I've been trying to catch a red-tagged barramundi ever since the competition started," she said.
"Our house is getting renovated at the moment, so the cash will go towards buying some furniture."
Major Events Minister Natasha Fyles said fishing was a way of life for many Territorians, and it was fantastic to see another prize-winning fish reeled in by a dedicated angler.
"Congratulations to our first female winner for the season for hooking onto the prized catch just weeks into season six," she said.
"The Million Dollar Fish competition is a great initiative that has helped boost the NT's reputation as the best place in the world to stay, play and fish."
The competition runs until the end of March next year with 95 $10,000 fish still to be caught.
