Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been unveiled as British Vogue’s cover star for the February 2023 issue.

The Bollywood actress, 40, makes a stunning appearance in the publication while reflecting on the past year since welcoming her daughter Malti Marie via surrogate with husband Nick Jonas.

In January 2022, the couple announced their arrival of their baby girl.

Priyanka shares in her new interview with British Vogue that she has been able her to find her “centre”, thanks to her daughter, following what has been a hectic career for the star.

“It’s been 20 years of hustling and working at breakneck speed. I’ve always been like, ‘What’s the next thing?’ But now I feel I have a centre, a sense of calm, because every decision ends up being about her,” Priyanka said.

Elsewhere in the interview, the actress described the “painful” reactions she received to her surrogacy, after being cruelly accused of “renting” a womb for a “ready-made baby” out of vanity.

Priyanka continued: “I’ve developed a tough hide when people talk about me, but it’s so painful when they talk about my daughter. I’m like, ‘Keep her out of it.’”

The new mum added: “I’ve been really protective of this chapter of my life with my daughter. Because it’s not about my life only. It’s hers too.”

Speaking on the theories discussed over her choice for a surrogate, Priyanka uttered “you don’t know what I’ve been through”, as she slammed those critiquing her in her personal life without knowing her medical history.

The movie star went on to reveal that she and husband Nick, 30, went through a trying time when their daughter was prematurely born, three months early, and spent the first few weeks of her life visiting her in a neonatal intensive care unit during the first Omicron wave in the US.

“I saw what the intensive-care nurses do. They do God’s work. Nick and I were both standing there as they intubated her,” Priyanka recalled.

“We spent every single day with her on my chest, on my husband’s chest. I didn’t know if she would make it or not.”

Thankfully, the couple’s baby girl is doing more than great, one year later, and appears with her mum in her new shoot for British Vogue.

Finally, in regards to her daughter, Priyanka said that “most people say she looks like Nick”, before adding “I don’t believe it.”
