Priyanka Chopra defends ‘victory to India’ tweet after being accused of stoking Pakistan and Kashmir tensions

Actress Priyanka Chopra was confronted at a beauty event in Los Angeles over a tweet in which she appeared to praise Indian military strikes in Pakistan.

As she took questions from the audience yesterday, a woman said: “It was kind of hard hearing you talk about humanity, because as your neighbour, a Pakistani, I know you’re a bit of a hypocrite.”

She cited a tweet from the Indian star’s official account in February — during clashes between the nuclear powers over Kashmir — in which Chopra, left, wrote “Jai Hind #IndianArmedForces”. “Jai Hind” can be translated as “victory to India”.

Chopra, who is married to US pop star Nick Jonas, told the woman: “I hear you. Whenever you’re done venting.

"Got it? Done? Okay, cool.”

She added “war is not something that I’m really fond of, but I am patriotic”. The row was caught on camera.
