Private funeral to be held for husband of Irish influencer Rachel Gorry

A private funeral will be held for the husband of Irish influencer Rachel Gorry after his tragic death this week.

The Offaly based mum-of-three shared the heartbreaking news that her husband Daniel had passed away following a long battle with esophagael cancer.

Daniel was diagnosed in September 2018 at the age of 28. His initial prognosis was one to five years, which was later reduced to just one year.

The couple were then told he would be lucky to see Chritsmas.

He received the shock diagnosis after he had to spend a week in a Portuguese hospital while on holidays because he was in excruciating pain.

Daniel had been going to his doctor in Ireland since June because of what he thought was a gut infection.

A private funeral will take place for Daniel this week due to the new restrictions implemented by the government to battle the coronavirus pandemic.

A post on RIP.ie reads:"Daniel died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

"Deeply regretted by his loving wife Rachel, daughters Leah, Holly and Hannah, father Pat, mother Martina, brother Jason, extended family and friends.

"Due to the Covid - 19 Directive, Funeral and House Strictly Private Please.

"A Memorial Mass for Daniel will take place at a later date."

Taking to Instagram Rachel shared a touching snap of her family clutching eachothers hands calling the lovely picture "Our last family photograph."

She wrote: "My heart is shattered into a million pieces writing this, Daniel passed away early this morning in my arms it was very peaceful.

"Thank you all so much for your kind messages I cant bring myself to go through any of them yet but I'm so grateful, stay safe."

Rachel and Daniel were childhood sweethearts and shared three daughters Leah, 9, Holly, 5, and three-year-old Hannah.
