Home Secretary Priti Patel has become locked in a row with ice-cream manufacturer Ben and Jerry's after they tweeted criticising the Government's stance on refugees and migrants.
A source close to Ms Patel branded the ice cream 'overpriced junk food' after the row, reports the BBC.
Ben and Jerry's is owned by Unilever - which has several bases in the Uk including in London, Gloucestershire and Merseyside.
It came after Ben and Jerry's official account tweeted Ms Patel calling on the UK Government to show more humanity to asylum seekers trying to get into the UK, and saying 'people cannot be illegal'.
The Home Office last week asked the military to make the crossing 'unviable'
The official Ben and Jerry's UK Twitter account posted: "Hey @PritiPatel, we think the real crisis is our lack of humanity for people fleeing war, climate change and torture."
It added: "People wouldn't make dangerous journeys if they had any other choice."
The account also tweeted: "People cannot be illegal."
A Home Office source replied: "Priti is working day and night to bring an end to these small boat crossings, which are facilitated by international criminal gangs and are rightly of serious concern to the British people.
"If that means upsetting the social media team for a brand of overpriced junk food, then so be it."
Foreign Office minister James Cleverly tweeted: "Can I have a large scoop of statistically inaccurate virtue signalling with my grossly overpriced ice cream, please?"
