Prisoner rushed to hospital with serious injuries after attack at HMP Addiewell

A prisoner has been rushed to hospital after a horror assault at HMP Addiewell.

Emergency services raced to the jail after the alarm was raised at around 4pm on Tuesday, September 7.

A 36-year-old man suffered serious injuries following the attack.

Police attended and another 36-year-old man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of an assault at HMP Addiewell which happened around 4pm on Tuesday, September 7.

“A 36-year-old man suffered serious injuries in connection with the incident.

“Another 36-year-old man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the incident.”
