Prison officer charged with taking mobile phone and tobacco into HMP Lowdham Grange

A prison officer has been charged with bringing a mobile phone and tobacco into HMP Lowdham Grange.

Nathan Drury, who no longer works for the service, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court.

He is also charged with acquiring, using or having criminal property at the prison on March 9 last year. On the court list, this property is identified as £1,566.

The mobile phone charge is dated February 25 last year with the tobacco allegation said to have been on March 8, 2018.

He was represented by Rebecca Meadows during the brief hearing in front of District Judge Leo Pyle.

The case was briefly outlined by Annelli Pritchard, prosecuting, who said that Drury was a prison officer at the time.

Drury, 25, gave his address as being in Pontefract.

He was granted unconditional bail to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on August 1.
