Prison for man caught on Coatbridge Main Street with a knuckle-knife

A foolish Kirkwood man caught with a “knuckle-knife” has been caged for 10 months after a sheriff took a dim view of his actions.

Charles Houston was found with the blade in his possession on Coatbridge Main Street on December 12.

He was subsequently arrested and pled guilty to the offence at Airdrie Sheriff Court.

Background reports were then ordered and Houston, 26, of Peel Place, was back in the dock to face the music last week.

A visibly unimpressed Sheriff Derek O’Carroll highlighted the dangers of knife crime and the “possible consequences” of Houston’s actions before telling him he had no choice but to send him to prison.

Houston was sentenced to 10 months in jail, which was downgraded from a year because he owned up to the offence.
