Priscilla Presley releases statement on grandson's suicide: 'These are some of the darkest days of my family's life'

Priscilla Presley has released an emotional statement about the suicide of her grandson Benjamin Keough.

The 27-year-old died by suicide on 12 July. He was the son of Lisa Marie Presley and grandchild of Priscilla and Elvis Presley.

“These are some of the darkest days of my family’s life,” wrote actor and business magnate Priscilla, who was married to Elvis between 1967 to 1973, on Facebook. “The shock of losing Ben has been devastating. Trying to put all the pieces together of all the possible whys has penetrated my soul. Each day I wake up I pray it will get better.”

Speaking about how her family are dealing with the loss, she added: “Then, I think of my daughter and the pain she is going through as she was a doting mother. Ben’s father, Danny, who is completely lost, as Ben was his only son.

“Riley, so loving and so close to him; Harper and Finley, who absolutely adored Ben. Navarone, who struggles deeply with loss and death. Rest In Peace Ben, you were loved.”

Keough’s sister Riley, an actor who has appeared in Logan Lucky and The Girlfriend Experience, also wrote a tribute to him on Instagram, describing him as her “twin soul”.

Priscilla is known for her appearances in The Naked Gun and Dallas.
