Priscila Cachoeira withdraws from UFC on ESPN+ 39 on weigh-ins day; Cortney Casey fight off

UFC on ESPN+ 39 has lost a fight one day before the event.

Priscila Cachoeira, who was set to meet Cortney Casey on the prelims, has withdrawn because of a bad weight cut. MMA Junkie confirmed the news with a UFC official. It was first reported by Combate during Friday morning’s weigh-ins at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Cachoeira (9-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC), who tested positive for COVID-19 over the summer, has never missed the flyweight limit for a UFC fight. She was hoping to continue momentum from a win earlier this year, which snapped a three-fight losing streak to open her UFC stint. At UFC on ESPN+ 26 in February, Cachoeira knocked out Shana Dobson in 40 seconds.

Casey (9-8 MMA, 5-7 UFC), meanwhile, has alternated wins and losses in her last four fights and most recently lost by third-round submission to Gillian Robertson in June at UFC on ESPN 11.

With the cancellation, the UFC on ESPN+ 39 lineup includes:

MAIN CARD (ESPN+, 7 p.m. ET)

  • Uriah Hall vs. Anderson Silva
  • Andre Fili vs. Bryce Mitchell
  • Kevin Holland vs. Charlie Ontiveros
  • Maurice Greene vs. Greg Hardy
  • Bobby Green vs. Thiago Moises

PRELIMINARY CARD (ESPN+, 4 p.m. ET)

  • Chris Gruetzemacher vs. Alexander Hernandez
  • Victor Rodriquez vs. Adrian Yanez
  • Jack Marshman vs. Sean Strickland
  • Cole Williams vs. Jason Witt
  • Dustin Jacoby vs. Justin Ledet
  • Cortney Casey vs. Priscila Cachoeira
  • Miles Johns vs. Kevin Natividad
