Printworks London has announced a wave of artists for its final shows, as the venue prepares to close for redevelopment next year, with artists including Annie Mac, Jamie xx, Jeff Mills, and Skream.

The season kicks off on February 4, with many events already sold out well in advance. Some of the biggest names in dance music are set to grace the famous Press Halls and Inkwells for one last time,

The Evening Standard’s former printing works opened its doors as a music and events space in 2017 and quickly became one of the most highly regarded venues in London, playing host to over 3,000 artists and some of the biggest labels in dance music. Highlights include Hospitality, Defected, ANTS, Solid Grooves, Paradise, DnB Allstars and the Belfast-born AVA Festival.

As well as playing host to global DJ’s, the space also made itself known as a hub for emerging artists, bands, experimental talents and events. These factors led to Printworks regularly featuring in annual best nightclub lists worldwide.

The 6,000-capacity Surrey Quays nightclub will close its doors after Southwark Council approved plans for its renovation into offices earlier in the year, making it the latest victim in London’s rapidly eroding club scene.

Printworks’ last hurrah aims to showcase some of the artists and events that helped establish it as one of the best-known clubs in the UK.

The latest wave of artists announced includes Annie Mac, Ben Klock, Dan Shake, DVS1, Jamie XX, Jeff Mills, Skream and many more, with multiple line-ups still yet to be confirmed.

Director of entertainment Matthew Johnson says, “Over the past six years we’ve welcomed millions of guests along with some incredible artists, partners, labels and collectives through our doors.

“For the final season, we’re looking forward to welcome back guests and partners who have been with us throughout Printworks’ journey, along with some new parties and breakout brands.”

Despite the closure, the team behind Printworks have not yet ruled out a return, with Matthew Johnson describing the final Printworks curation as the last “in its current guise”.

While too early to speculate on the potential return of Printworks, in whatever form that may be, anticipation for the final shows has been exceptional – with many of the events selling out before the acts were announced.

The season kicks off with Deadmau5 X Kaskade on February 3 and the pioneering queer festival Body Movements on February 4, setting the scene for a huge two-month send off.

Other popular events announced include FUSE, Drumcode, ANTS, Patrick Topping’s TRICK, KNTXT, Music On, Abode, Worried about Henry, Let It Roll, Sulta Selects and The Final Frontier.

Organisers are still putting together the closing weekend line-ups, but going by previous end-of-season parties, fans can be sure to expect something special.
