'Principal distributor' nabbed in Canberra with nearly $1 million in drugs and cash

Police say the drugs were destined for the streets of Canberra.

An alleged major drug distributor who police say was caught with an array of illegal drugs valued at $850,000, and $90,000 in cash has been arrested in Canberra.

Police said the bust was part of a ongoing investigations into a criminal syndicate, and alleged 34-year-old Nathan James Davidson was the head of its Canberra operation.

"This person was known to police, it's part of a wider syndicate that we have been investigating," Detective Superintendent Scott Moller said.

"He was the principal distributor in the Canberra region."

Mr Davidson was arrested after a months-long investigation which culminated in raids yesterday in Canberra's city area.

"The drugs that we located included heroin, MDMA, cocaine and ice, and a quantity of steroids," Superintendent Moller said.

Mr Davidson is not believed to have links to bikie gangs and did not apply for bail.

He will be back in court next month.
