Principal confirms coronavirus case at Nottinghamshire school

One member of staff at a Nottinghamshire school has tested positive for coronavirus.

As a result, the main school bubble - comprising Key Stage Three and Four, years seven to 11 - has been closed temporarily.

Jenny McConnell, principal of the Dawn House School, in Helmsley Road, Rainworth, said: "We have had a confirmed case in a non-pupil facing worker. But this person had significant contact with mainly teachers and therapists.

"So, following guidance from Public Health England, that's required several staff to self-isolate."

The school has 65 pupils and there are five bubbles in operation.

The majority of children remain at school.

Ms McConnell added: "We have had to temporarily close the main school bubble, which is two key stages, but they come back to school on Tuesday next week (October 13)."

More than 50 schools across Nottinghamshire have confirmed cases to Nottinghamshire Live since the start of the academic year.

It comes as new local lockdown restrictions are set to be introduced across the whole of Nottinghamshire.

Leaked Government documents have shown when they are likely to be announced and what measures could be imposed.
