Princess of Wales doubles down on Barbie-pink for spring

Florals for spring? The Princess of Wales doesn’t think so.

Instead, as she stepped out today to visit the Foundling Museum and hear first-hand experiences of foster parents and those who have been through the care system, she doubled down on the pretty in pink look she has recently been so fond of.

The royal, who is a patron of the museum situated near Kings Cross, opted for a monochrome, baby pink suit from her go-to London designer, Alexander McQueen. The label, who designed her wedding dress in 2011, was also behind her ivory silk gown and flower crown she chose to wear to King Charles III’s Coronation earlier this month.

She paired the Barbie-esque suit with a matching silk, button-up blouse and finished the outfit with a statement white belt with chunky, pearl buckle and white leather stilettos. Inside, she joined rapper Professor Green in meeting a number of those involved with the care system, as well as artist Grayson Perry who brought a splash of colour to the outing, wearing a lime green t-shirt and flower printed dungarees.

It comes after the Princess made another pop-pink statement as she attended the Chelsea Flower Show on Monday. The two-toned, pink shirt dress was sourced from one her favourite high street labels ME+EM, and she accessorised it with Castaner Carina Espadrille wedges and Zoraida leaf earrings, worth £165.

Both looks come as US Vogue have declared 2023 the summer of Barbie. Debuting their ‘Summer’ issue yesterday, the all-pink cover sees Margot Robbie, who plays Barbie in the Greta Gerwig film released on 21 July, donning a candy-coloured Versace gown with a matching backdrop.

It appears, now, to have the royal approval.
