Princess Eugenie promises to look after Queen in emotional message about Prince Philip

Princess Eugenie promised to look after the Queen in an emotional message to her late grandfather, Prince Philip.

She spoke fondly of the Duke of Edinburgh in the tribute, recalling a day when she "incinerated the sausages" and he jumped in to "save the day".

She also thanked him for his love and dedication to herself and the rest of the family, but "especially Granny".

She shared two photos of the Duke of Edinburgh, one recent shot showing them at the horse racing and a throwback snap to her with her grandad when she was a little girl.

Earlier this year Eugenie welcomed her first child, a baby boy, and gave him the middle name Philip in honour of her grandfather.

Posting on Instagram, she writes: "Dearest Grandpa,⁣ We all miss you. ⁣

⁣"You would be so touched by all the tributes that have been shared with me the past few days. ⁣

"People remember sitting next to you at a dinner, or shaking your hand once, who remember you saying hello in passing, or remember how much their DofE award meant to them. ⁣

"I remember learning how to cook, how to paint, what to read. I remember laughing at your jokes and asking about your spectacular life and service in the navy.

"I remember incinerating the sausages and you swooping in to save the day.⁣ I remember your hands and your laugh and your favourite beer.

"I will remember you in your children, your grandchildren and great grandchildren. ⁣

⁣"Thank you for your dedication and love for us all and especially Granny, who we will look after for you. ⁣

"With all my love , Eugenie."

Eugenie has joined several other members of the royal family in paying tribute to Philip.

Harry described him as the "legend of banter" while William said he "felt lucky" to have had him in his life.

The Cambridges also shared a photo, taken by Kate, showing Philip driving Prince George around in a horse and carriage.

The Duke of Edinburgh passed away peacefully at Windsor Castle on Friday. His funeral will take place on Saturday and will follow all Covid rules and restrictions.
