Today marks the fifth birthday of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s second child.
And just as they did for Prince Louis’ second birthday a few weeks ago, the royal couple have released a series of photos of the adorable young Princess to celebrate the occasion.
The images, taken by The Duchess herself back in April, picture Charlotte and her family helping to pack up and deliver food packages to the elderly and isolated in their local area.
Charlotte, who often takes style cues from her mother, is pictured wearing a gorgeous navy and white gingham dress from Zara, a high street label her mother has often relied upon for pussybow blouses and summery coats. The dress, which appears to be from a previous season, featured long sleeves and one of the season’s biggest trends: an oversized collar.
Back at London Fashion Week in February, supersize collars were a major hit both on and off the runways, proving Charlotte, who wore her dress with chic thick grey tights and black Mary Jane shoes, to be one snappy dresser.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posted four images of the young Princess to the Kensington Royal Instagram last night with the caption: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share four new photographs of Princess Charlotte ahead of her fifth birthday tomorrow. The images were taken by The Duchess as the family helped to pack up and deliver food packages for isolated pensioners in the local area.”
And then today, on the morning of Charlotte’s birthday, they posted another single image of Charlotte, looking away from the camera and holding a bag of pasta with the caption, “Thank you for all your lovely messages on Princess Charlotte’s fifth birthday!
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share a new photograph of Princess Charlotte, taken by The Duchess this April.”
The birthday girl, whose full title is Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, was born at the private maternity Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, central London, at 8.34am on May 2 2015, weighing 8lb 3oz.
If her fifth birthday look is anything to go by, she’s inherited her mother’s instinctive sense of style.
