Princess Charlotte helped to ease the tension between her mum the Duchess of Cambridge and her aunt Meghan Markle, a new book has claimed.
In their biography Finding Freedom, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand claim the two royal women had a strained relationship from the start.
They say it wasn't a falling out as such, more that they were never close as they were very different.
Harry introduced his then girlfriend Meghan to his brother and Kate at Kensington Palace a few months into their relationship.
However the book says that Kate is an "extremely guarded person" who keeps a very tight group of friends.
But Kate's daughter Charlotte helped to ease the tension between the women due to Meghan's "adoration" of the little Princess.
During the early days of their relationship, Meghan lived with Harry at his Kensington Palace home Nottingham Cottage.
The small two-bed was just around the corner from the Cambridges, which meant they were extremely close and spent a lot of time with Charlotte and her brothers George and Louis.
Meghan also bought her sister-in-law a soft leather Smythson notebook which brought them together.
Speaking about the details in the book, Scobie told People: "A lot of damage has been done."
He also claims that Kate "barely acknowledged" Meghan during their final engagement as a four before the Sussexes quit the royal family.
He told the Times : "Although Meghan tried to make eye contact with Kate, the duchess barely acknowledged her.
"To purposefully snub your sister-in-law... I don't think it left a great taste in the couple's mouths."
The book also focuses on tensions between Harry and William, saying the younger brother was upset and angered by some of the Duke of Cambridge's comments about Meghan.
According to their sources, Wills said: "Don’t feel like you need to rush this" and "take as much time as you need to get to know this girl", reports People magazine.
They write: "Harry was p***ed off.
"P***ed off that his brother would ask such a thing. Some felt it was an overreaction.
"But then, this totally sums them up as people—William the calm and rational one, and Harry, who can’t help but take things far too personally."
