Princess Beatrice welcomes baby daughter with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi

Princess Beatrice, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, has given birth to her first child.

Buckingham Palace announced in a statement the baby girl had been born at 11.42pm on Saturday at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.

It is the 33-year-old princess's first child with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who also has a son from a previous relationship.

The palace said the princess and the baby, who weighs six pounds and two ounces (2.78kg), were doing well, and that the Queen had also been informed of the news.

"The new baby's grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news," Buckingham Palace said.

"The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care.

"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf."

Princess Beatrice also took to Twitter to announce the birth, thanking the hospital and its staff for their care.

The baby girl is the 12th great-grandchild for the Queen.

Princess Beatrice married Mr Mapelli Mozzi in a secret ceremony at Windsor Castle in July 2020, with only close family members attending due to coronavirus restrictions.

Her younger sister, Eugenie, welcomed her first child - a son named August — with husband Jack Brooksbank in February.

The birth will provide happy news to the Royal family amid a tide of negative press surrounding a sexual assault lawsuit against Prince Andrew and the continued fallout from the departure of Prince Harry from Royal life.
