Princess Beatrice's wedding dress to go on display at Windsor Castle

Princess Beatrice's wedding dress, which she famously borrowed from the Queen, is to be displayed at Windsor Castle.

This follows the tradition that proceeds a royal wedding, which showcases the bride's dress to the public.

Princess Beatrice, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, borrowed a vintage dress from her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, for her wedding to property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Designed by Norman Hartnell, the ivory dress is made from Peau De Soie taffeta, and is trimmed with ivory Duchess satin. According to a release from Buckingham Palace, the dress also features organza sleeves, diamanté adornments, and a checkered, geometric bodice.

The queen's senior dresser Angela Kelly and designer Stewart Parvin remodelled the dress for Beatrice, which the queen debuted at the premiere of Lawrence of Arabia in Leicester Square, London, in 1962.

Alongside the dress, Princess Beatrice's Valentino wedding shoes will also go on display. The thrifty royal had worn the pumps on various occasions previously, most notably to the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011.
