Princess Beatrice pregnancy was 'announced to spite Meghan and Harry' says TV host

Studio 10 host Sarah Harris claimed Princess Beatrice made an announcement on her pregnancy to "spite Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ".

Meghan and Harry got married on May 19, 2017, and celebrated their third anniversary yesterday.

One the same day, Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi announced that they are expecting a baby this autumn.

Studio 10 hosts Sarah and Tristan MacManus discussed the timing of the announcement and believe that a need to upstage Meghan and Harry was at play.

"A bit of controversy over that as well," the Australian TV host said. "We're hearing, Tash, that maybe it was announced to spite Harry and Meghan because it was their third anniversary."

Newsreader Natasha Exelby nodded along with the idea that it was "indeed" a possibility.

However, Sarah then questioned: "Do you think Beatrice would be thinking about that [Meghan] when she's making the announcement?"

"No she wouldn't, she'd be happy that she's having a child and so is everyone else," Tristan responded.

Buckingham Palace announced the baby news yesterday.

The palace said: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year.

"The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news."

The news has brought joy to the monarch and the royal family who have been mourning the loss of Prince Phillip - who died last month.

The baby will be the Queen's 12th great-grandchild following the arrival of the Sussexes' second child in the summer.
