Princess Beatrice never says 'pregnant' to the Queen as she thinks it's 'vulgar'

Expecting Princess Beatrice avoids using one word in particular when she discusses the arrival of her first child with the Queen.

Beatrice and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who married in a secret lockdown wedding in July, are to welcome a baby in the autumn.

But it is claimed she tries not to use the word "pregnant" in any conversations she has with her grandmother.

A royal insider told Us Weekly that Queen Elizabeth finds the term "vulgar".

Instead, they say she prefers pregnancy being described as a woman being "in the family way".

The baby will be the Queen's 12th great-grandchild following the arrival of the Sussexes' second child in the summer.

She is said to be excited about the new arrival following the official announcement on May 19.

Buckingham Palace announced: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year.

"The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news."

The Princes, 32, married Edoardo in a secret lockdown wedding in Windsor back in July last year.

The Queen, Prince Philip, Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew and Princess Eugenie were among the small group of guests.

The couple's original wedding had to be scrapped due to lockdown, however they opted to have a secret ceremony behind closed doors as soon as government restrictions allowed.

The news last month has brought joy to the monarch and the royal family, who have been mourning the loss of Prince Phillip - who died in April.

But Studio 10 host Sarah Harris claimed Beatrice made an announcement on her pregnancy to "spite Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ".

Meghan and Harry married on May 19, 2017, and celebrated their third anniversary on the same day that the baby news was made public.

"A bit of controversy over that as well," the Australian TV host said. "We're hearing that maybe it was announced to spite Harry and Meghan because it was their third anniversary."
