Princess Beatrice married in secret ceremony in front of Queen and Prince Andrew

Princess Beatrice has married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a secret Royal wedding ceremony attended by the Queen and Prince Andrew among others.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that the pair married during a private ceremony in Windsor with close family in attendance.

The wedding was not announced in advance and pictures have not yet been released from the ceremony.

Princess Beatrice had planned to marry her property tycoon fiancé at St James’s Palace on May 29, but the ceremony was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Guests at the secret ceremony held this morning included the Queen, Beatrice's parents Prince Andrew Duke of York and Sarah Duchess of York and Prince Philip.

The ceremony is believed to be the first family gathering attended by the Queen and her husband during the lockdown.

Beatrice's sister Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank, who married in 2018, are also thought to have been among the guests.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “The private wedding ceremony of Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi took place at 11am on Friday 17th July at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor.

“The small ceremony was attended by The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh and close family.

"The wedding took place in accordance with all relevant Government Guidelines.”

Beatrice, who is ninth in line to the throne, is not a full-time working royal but works for Afiniti, an artificial intelligence software firm, where she is vice president of partnerships and strategy.

She began dating Mr Mapelli Mozzi, who is known as Edo, in 2018 and the couple got engaged in Italy in September last year.

Their families have known one another for many years and the couple are said to have started a relationship after meeting again at Princess Eugenie’s wedding.

The news of the couple's marriage came on the day that prime minister Boris Johnson announced that wedding ceremonies with up to 30 guests will be permitted from August 1 under new government guidelines.
