Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are expecting a baby, it has been announced.
The Queen's granddaughter and her husband are "very pleased" to be welcoming their first child, Buckingham Palace said on Wednesday.
The news has brought joy to the monarch and the royal family who are mourning the loss of the Duke of Edinburgh who died last month.
The Royal Family's social media message, which accompanied a photo of the couple on their wedding day in July 2020, said: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year.
" The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news."
Beatrice, 32, and Mr Mapelli Mozzi wed last July and had a small ceremony due to lockdown rules.
The couple had reportedly hoped to invite 150 guests. However, those plans were scuppered due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Instead, Buckingham Palace said the pair enjoyed a "small ceremony" at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor.
"The private wedding ceremony of Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi took place at 11am on Friday 17th July," confirmed the palace in a statement.

“The small ceremony was attended by The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh and close family.
“The wedding took place in accordance with all relevant Government guidelines."
Their baby will be the Queen's 12th great-grandchild following the arrival of the Sussexes' second child in the summer.
