Princess Anne was 'amicable' with nephew Prince Harry at Coronation as it 'wasn't the place' for rift talks

At King Charles' Coronation, Princess Anne and Prince Harry were spotted in a surprise exchange.

Harry's aunt is one of the few senior members of the Royal Family that the Duke of Sussex spoke to during his brief return to the UK.

The pair were seen chatting and laughing ahead of the ceremony in Westminster Abbey, but one royal expert has claimed that the Princess was merely being "amiable" with her nephew as the special occasion wasn't the best place for the rift to be discussed, writes The Express.

Royal expert, Jennie Bond told OK! Magazine that it was likely that the Princess was "very unhappy" and "absolutely furious" with her nephew but the Coronation "was neither the time nor the place" to discuss recent events, including his tell-all memoir Spare and Netflix programme with wife Meghan Markle.

Ms Bond said: "It was entirely natural to stop and chat with her nephew with whom, I think, she got on pretty well over the years rather than cause some kind of public scene.

"It was better to be amiable but I am quite sure that deep down Anne has been absolutely furious with Harry for upsetting her mother, his grandmother, so much in her last years.

"And for all the allegations he's made, I'm sure she'll be very unhappy with them, but this was neither the time nor place to discuss all that, so I mean she I mean, they look very relaxed together."

Ms Bond added: "She would have just put things on one side a little bit but I'm sure she is angry at the damage he's done to the royal reputation because she works so hard.

"I don't know how strong the relationship between is but Anne works so damned hard, so hard for the constitutional monarchy and anything that damages it would make her very angry."

Princess Anne is often referred to as the 'hardest working royal' due to the large number of royal engagements she takes on every year.

Jenny Bond went on to compare Anne to her late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, saying that the Princess is a "very straight down the line and blunt" person and "doesn't pretend anything".

She said: "So when the family was imploding but she had a job to do, she could just put that to one side and get on with the job in hand. And I think Anne's probably a little bit like that."
