Princess Anne caught shrugging on camera 'after being scolded by Queen for not greeting Donald and Melania Trump'

Princess Anne and the Queen have been caught on video appearing to have a quiet mother and daughter disagreement in front of the US President and his wife.

The footage shows Her Majesty greeting Donald Trump and Melania during a reception at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, while the Princess Royal stands off to the side.

But the Queen appears unamused that her daughter is not standing in line to welcome the US President and the First Lady.

In a clip caught on camera, the 93-year-old monarch is seen turning towards her daughter and appears to gesture to her to join her.

Princess Anne then widens her arms out and shrugs.

The clip has since gone viral with many on social media praising the princess for her refusal to interact with Mr Trump.

Many say they relate to the princess' position while others recognise the mother-daughter altercation on display.

One Twitter user said: "Princess Anne is the Queen of Shade. She is all of us."

Princess Anne was also seen at the event standing with Justin Trudeau, Boris Johnson and Emmanuel Macron as the Nato leaders appeared to criticise Mr Trump behind his back .

Another on Twitter said: "Princess Anne has ALWAYS been an absolute hero in the royal family. Didn’t give her kids titles, first to divorce, working round the clock...

"The videos of her gossiping with world leaders & shrugging like a teenager at the queen are just the cherry on top."

"All hail Princess Anne," said another.

The Queen was standing waiting to enter the Palace's state rooms with Secretary General of North Atlantic Treaty Organisations Jens Stoltenberg, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, when the clip was taken.

The US President secured plenty of headlines on day one of his visit to Britain for Nato talks.

Addressing fears he would push for the NHS to be on the table in post-Brexit trade talks, Mr Trump said: "No, not at all, I have nothing to do with it. Never even thought about it, honestly."

Mr Corbyn failed in his attempt to accost the White House incumbent at a Nato reception at Buckingham Palace regarding Labour's concerns about the NHS in any US-UK trade deal.

Mr Trump, speaking earlier this year, had said "everything" would be up for grabs, including the "NHS or anything else".

He also hit out at Mr Macron over his critical comments about Nato.
