Princes Street Suites snapped up by The Edinburgh Collection

The Edinburgh Collection, which owns hotels across the capital, has bought Princes Street Suites and plans upgrades to the aparthotel.

The aparthotel has a roof terrace offering views of Edinburgh Castle and its suites were recently refurbished. The Edinburgh Collection said it will substantially improve the walk-in and welcome experience at Princes Street Suites by expanding the reception area with a 24-hour bar and coffee lounge.

The 37 one, two and three bedroom apartments will be upgraded to include smart TVs, USB charging points and smartphone companions. Edinburgh Collection said these additions are in keeping with its drive to provide user friendly technology.

It said this investment in technology, combined with improved meeting room accommodation, is part of a move to attract local companies to use its facilities for day lets of the suites for meetings.

Princes Street Suites, previously manged by RBH, will retain existing staff and will bring in-house the outsourced housekeeping staff, with the 22-person team led by general manager Alain Martzolff.

The Edinburgh Collection said the Princes Street Suites will benefit from collective local marketing expertise and group promotions with branding consistent with the rest of the group.

The Edinburgh Collection’s portfolio in the city includes the business class Haymarket Hub Hotel, the historic Old Waverley and the four-star Holyrood aparthotel.

The group now owns more than 440 bedrooms across Edinburgh, employing over 120 staff. It said it has seen positive growth in profit and turnover in the last financial year.
