Princes Square becomes 'Princess Square' throughout March to mark International Women's Day

Glasgow shopping centre Princes Square has been re-branded as ‘Princess Square’ for the month of March to mark International Women’s Day.

The symbolic change of the name of one of the city’s premier retail and lifestyle destinations will be accompanied by a celebration of women throughout the month.

Visitors can read all about key female icons of Princes Square in the courtyard and celebrate the women behind Princes Square’s famous luxury brands.

And that includes women such as jeweller Sheila Fleet MBE; the grand dame of British fashion, Vivienne Westwood and Diane Hall, founder of Dower & Hall jewellers.

Katie Moody of Princes Square said: “At Princes Square we celebrate women all year round but we decided to dedicate March to a month-long celebration of them.

"It’s a time when women all over the world can inspire one another, celebrate their achievements and we felt it was only fitting to re-brand as ‘Princess Square’ for the month to show our commitment to women".

The month-long celebration, which also takes in Mother’s Day, will culminate in the inaugural ‘Inspirational Woman Awards’ which will take place in the courtyard of Princes Square on Tuesday, March 24.

Tickets cost £10 and include: entry to the awards; a glass of fizz and canapes and a ticket to the after-party.
