Last week representatives from both Prince Harry and King Charles met to begin what has been dubbed a “good first step” in seeing the Sussexes reunite with the rest of the royal family. However, one very important figure was not involved in the peace talks, Prince William apparently isn’t completely sold on the idea of bringing his little brother back into the fray.
Considering William is set to be the future King of England you would expect him to be involved in such an important affair. However, his lack of representation at the “peace summit” has led to a great deal of speculation on the matter and indicates that this “peace” might not be so easy to achieve after all. Some have questioned if William and Kate were even aware that the discussion was taking place. Others claim there was a good reason the future King and Queen are keeping their distance.
Prince William is treating the situation with “extreme caution”
An alleged friend of the future King and Queen claimed that it was “no coincidence that William and Catherine did not have a representative at the Royal Over-Seas League.” According to the unnamed individual they were not asked to send a representative and they “will be treating the talks with extreme caution.”
They went on to imply that Meghan and Harry might have had something to do with the secret talks being leaked to the papers, “The fact that it ended up in the newspapers tells you all you need to know.”
Are the Sussexes responsible for the leaks?
If Harry and Meghan are indeed behind the leaks it would confirm to William and perhaps the rest of the firm that they cannot be trusted. In the past the Sussexes have been criticized for airing private grievances with the royal family in interviews, most recently, Prince Harry stirred controversy with his comments about his father’s health during a BBC interview.
The royal family have always been wary of Harry and Meghan for this exact reason, so do these leaks prove they haven’t changed at all? Sources told the Telegraph that the couple are “frustrated” with the leaks and are adamant that they were not responsible for news of the meeting being found out by the press.
Regardless of how the news got out it’s safe to say it will take William a little longer to warm to the idea of reuniting with his brother. While Charles may be more open to forgiving his son William has expressed a reluctance to do so up until now. According to insiders the elder brother refuses to even talk about Harry anymore.
Wherever the leaks came from it better not link back to the Sussexes or the fragile peace that has been achieved so far could go up in smoke.
