Prince William's telling comment about 'challenges' amid Meghan Markle and Harry drama

Prince William spoke about the importance of dealing with "challenges" and moving forward at an engagement amid the drama surrounding his brother Harry and Meghan Markle .

The Duke is in Bradford today with wife Kate, visiting a number of organisations and projects that promote cohesion within one of the UK's most diverse cities.

The couple put on a brave face after a difficult week for the Royal Family, which saw Meghan and Harry announce they are stepping down from their duties - without consulting their relatives first.

Kate and William haven't officially commented on the news, however the Duke made a telling comment during a conversation about family this afternoon.

He said: "It’s sometimes trying to get people to understand that’s it’s ok to have these challenges.

"We just need to deal with them and we need to move forward rather than just be stuck in paralysis and pretend they don’t happen, which is no good."

The couple were at a workshop run by Near Neighbours, an organisation which brings people together in communities across the UK that are religiously and ethnically diverse.

It was their final engagement of the visit, having spent the day meeting young people, employers and families and sampling some Asian cuisine at a Pakistani restaurant in the city.

The couple were all smiles as they arrived just before midday, with Kate wearing a houndstooth Zara dress and olive green coat by Alexander McQueen.

Kate wore the military style jacket zipped up to the top as she arrived at the engagement, paired with black pointed court style heels, a small black Aspinal of London bag and gold drop earrings by Zeen.

The Pakistani jewellery designer was favoured by the duchess during a royal visit to Pakistan in October.

This afternoon, the pair greeted officials in the city's Centenary Square and waved to the throngs of royal fans as they walked up the red carpet into Bradford's City Hall.
