The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are relatively undemonstrative with each other in public - and we've certainly never heard either of them make a public declaration of love .
But it turns out Prince William may have a bit of a romantic streak.
When they were still dating, he famously landed a helicopter practically in the Middleton's back garden.
While this gesture is arguably a bit on the flash side, a later promise he made to his then-girlfriend shows a slightly less ostentatious approach (though it still took place on an island in the Seychelles, obviously).
Following their 2007 break-up, Kate and William took a secret trip.
According to Andrew Morton's 2011 book, 'William and Catherine', "the couple under the assumed names of Martin and Rose Middleton, bid farewell to the paradise island of Desroches in the Outer Seychelles where they had spent a sublime week renewing their love affair."
Author Marcia Moody also wrote about this holiday, saying:
"They stayed in the Desroches Island Resort, checking in under the names Martin and Rosemary Middleton, and went kayaking and snorkelling in the shallow coral reef."
While enjoying their holida, William reportedly made a promise to Kate, saying they'd spend the next few years having fun and doing what they wanted:
"For the next few years, they would work and enjoy their lives, knowing that at some point when the time was right, they would be husband and wife."
Of course, once they got married, things changed and the rest is history.
