Prince William's subtle nod to Queen in Father's Day pic with George, Charlotte and Louis

Prince William made a subtle tribute to the late Queen in a new photo released for Father's Day with his three children.

The Prince of Wales is seen sitting on a bench with his arms lovingly wrapped around Princess Charlotte and Prince George while Prince Louis sits on his lap.

All four have big smiles and are wearing blue outfits.

The photo was taken in the gardens of Frogmore House in Windsor.

In this year's picture for Father's Day, the royals gave the late Queen Elizabeth II a subtle tribute.

The family are sitting in the timber Swiss Seat, a Swiss cottage which was made out of silver birches in 1833 and renovated for the late Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The bench they are sitting on was a gift to the late monarch to mark her 90th birthday in 2016.

The words "birthday" and "April 2016" can be seen engraved into the wooden bench.

Earlier today the royal family shared a photo of a young Prince Harry and William with their dad in a touching Father's Day tribute.

Three images were shared on Twitter with the caption: "To Dads everywhere, we wish you a very special Father’s Day today."

One image shows Prince Philip with his son Charles and the second one shows Queen Camilla with her father Major Bruce Shand.

The third image shows Charles with his two sons William and Harry.

The sweet image, taken in 1997, shows the three above the Falls of Muick on the Balmoral estate in Scotland.

Yesterday, the royal family stepped out for the Trooping the Colour.

Prince Louis looked dapper in a shirt and tie with his trademark shorts as he joined his siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte in a carriage.

The youngsters were alongside their mum the Princess of Wales and Queen Camilla in one of the carriages taking part in the procession from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade.

Like his younger brother, George was in a suit while Charlotte wore a beautiful red and white dress and they eagerly waved to the crowds who had gathered on the Mall, with Louis even tapping his hands along to the music.

Mum Kate shunned military uniform, despite now being colonel of the Irish Guards, and instead wore a green ensemble with a stunning regimental brooch.

Also travelling in carriages were the Duchess of Edinburgh and Princess Anne's husband Timothy Laurence as well as the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

However, Prince William did ride on horseback alongside his father Charles - who is the first monarch in 37 years to do so.

Once at Horse Guards Parade, the children watched the proceedings from a building with Louis and Charlotte being talked through the service by their great aunt, Sophie Wessex.
