While I am pleased to see Prince William appear on the front cover of an LGBTQ magazine (Report, 16 June), in 2016 such behaviour is very safe. By contrast, his mother supported causes which others wouldn’t go near at the time. If William wishes to be more than a cover-model then he needs to speak against the homophobia of the Church of England, of which he will one day be head.

In a very English piece of “triangulation”, the headteacher can hold the belief that “children have the right to express their own identity in a way that is most comfortable for them” at the same time as doing “battle with children who don’t wear uniform”.
